- Communicate well and have the ability to lead others?
- Love events?
If you answered yes to all of the above, Softball WA would like to hear from you. Softball WA is seeking two (2) Tournament Convenors to convene the biggest event on the Softball Australia/Softball Western Australia calendar in 2018.
If you didn’t know, Softball WA is hosting the Open Women’s and Under 15 Girls’ National Championships from 6 -12 January 2018 at the Mirrabooka International Softball Stadium.
Under the guidance of the Softball WA Chief Executive Officer and other Softball WA staff, each Tournament Convenor will be responsible for the coordination of ‘off-diamond’ activities for their respective Championships. Given both Championships are being held at the same venue a number of tasks and activities will be able to be shared.
The Tournament Convenors will be expected to commence working on specific tasks in relation to the tournament from approximately mid-August to the lead-up of the tournament. It is expected that approximately 50 to 75 hours each will be required during that period. In addition, the Tournament Convenors will also be required to be at the venue during the entire tournament (including the day before), therefore their availability between 6 – 12 January 2017 (inclusive) is essential. Although this is a voluntary position, an honorarium will be offered for the services provided.
Persons interested should have events experience and a good knowledge of softball. They should also have good time management and organisational skills; strong communication skills (verbal and written); have the ability to coordinate other volunteers, and be competent with Microsoft Word and Excel. Tournament Convenors will have access to any stationary requirements, a fixed line phone and computer and/or wi-fi at the Mirrabooka International Softball Stadium to assist preparations for the Tournament.
If you are interested, please read the Position Description below. Interested individuals are asked to email a resume and statement in the body of the email that outlines their skills, experience and reasons they are interested in the position. An email should be sent to Softball WA Chief Executive Officer, Dean Burton – firstname.lastname@example.org by no later than 5pm, Friday 11 August 2017.
Should you have any specific queries about the position, please contact the Softball WA Chief Executive Officer on 6181 3900.
